Silicon Development embeds vetted nearshore engineers into US product teams operating in SOC 2, HIPAA, and other regulated environments. Founded in 2018 by an engineering leader who had been on the other side of the relationship — hiring nearshore teams, managing outsourced projects, and feeling the friction of every staffing model firsthand.

The Observation

The industry's model wasn't built for how product teams actually work

Resume-and-run staffing

The staffing firms sent resumes that did not match the role. They collected a placement fee and moved on. If the engineer was not the right fit, you started over — and so did they.

The offshore teams created more coordination overhead than output. Ten-to-twelve-hour time zone gaps, misaligned engineering rhythms, and cultural friction turned what should have been added capacity into a management burden.
